Demographics

When people visit Wildwood Commerce Park for the first time, they remark on how rural the surroundings are and some have commented on how few “rooftops” they see, suggesting that Wildwood lacks a sufficient population within any distance to provide employees for the park. We’ve listened to that concern and have gathered demographic data within 30-mile, 60-mile, and 100-mile radii to demonstrate that we have a population that can accommodate labor needs.

We think that our rural setting provides an ideal quality-of-life while, at the same time, we are located within easy reach of major metro areas including Charlotte, Winston-Salem/Greensboro, Johnson City/Bristol and Roanoke. Virginia Tech, one of the nation’s leading universities for engineering graduates, is located within one hour drive of Wildwood. Within 60 miles of Wildwood, the 2015 population exceeds 1.3 million with a labor force exceeding 500,000. Closer to Wildwood, there are just over 90,000 households within the 30-mile radius. Our educational attainment levels within 30- and 60-miles are comparable to that found within 100-miles encompassing major metro areas with major universities, which include Virginia Tech, Wake Forest University, East Tennessee State University, and Appalachian State University.
